Zone Red
Is it bad if the speedometer needle on my scooter goes into the red zone?

I have a 150cc scooter. It’s top speed is 55-60. The needle goes into the red zone at 50 mph and up. (And yes, I am talking about the SPEEDOMETER…. ‘NOT’ the TACHOMETER)

Red is a engine danger warning indicator, try to stay under it. Other poster noted governor possible? Maybe- but a 150cc unlikely to have a legal speed restriction like ‘moped’ class so likely no governor- depends on brand, Tomos newer models aren’t governed that size US market, neither are the Kymcos in scooter shop. red zone speed could be handling and braking issue also- 10 inch wheels and drum brakes not as stable as 12 or 13 inch wheels with discs.
