Why do my black neon tetras keep dying?
I started out with 6 black neons. About 3 of them died. I then added two guppies, they both died. Another two black neons died, leaving just 1 black neon in the tank. I added 3 more black neons, all 3 new ones were dead within a couple of weeks.
What is going wrong? Is the one original black neon that I have had from the start killing all the other fish? Surely it can’t be a water quality problem, or even the one surviving neon would have died. Right?
I’m not stocking too fast. All this happened over a period of about a year.
the most likely situation would be water PH
or contamination from an accessory
Silicon poisoning or hard water from a BAD rock
can kill and kill fast
Take a sample of your water to your local fish store
and ask them to test it. its usually free as you wont be
buying fish with BAD water
the other possibility is TEMPERATURE too hot is
easy to tell the fish float on top and GULP for air
but too cold is just as BAD and it sometimes goes unnoticed
got a heater? and a termometer?
