The Washington Huskies-A Northwest Football Dominator
Within the far West, University of Washington–a Pacific 10 Conference team–has walked quietly but carried a large stick from the world of higher education football. To date, Washington has been the recipient of four National football titles, allowing them to boast as being among the greatest university football teams despite the fact they may be overlooked time and time again. University football is notorious for becoming fickle and Ohio State, USC, Florida, and Alabama seem to become in the forefront of title expectations and sports news. Nevertheless, this has in no way phased the Washington Huskies; they simply maintain forging ahead and winning games.
Where NFL Quarterbacks are Made
Washington is above all else known for the amazing amount of group quarterbacks who have enjoyed NFL, or National Football League, success once their ride about the Huskies is more than. Out of Washington’s last 18 quarterbacks, 16 have continued their football careers as members from the NFL; these numbers far surpass what any other college team has been able to create. There is simply something indescribable about the Washington Huskies that attracts the attention of quarterbacks and subsequently molds them into NFL football stars. Take Jake Locker for instance. Currently, he is Washington’s top dog who many feel is well on his way to becoming an NFL darling, successfully continuing Washington’s football legacy.
A Long-Lasting Streak
University of Washington is no stranger to fame. For 11 many years, starting in 1907, this team was unstoppable for an astounding 63 game in a row, which is still an unbroken NCAA record. Gil Dobie spearheaded the Huskies as head coach for 39 of these football games and boasted 58 victories, no losses, and only three ties at the end of his Washington career. Because of Washington’s numerous wins and lack of losses, some stated it being the premier football of that decade.
Rating, Rating, Score
A group has to rating some points if they want a shot at generating it within the Pacific 10; this can be a goal the Huskies often manage to meet. This comes as no surprise considering this team’s quarterback fame. Even so, scoring points does not a team championship make. Washington has repeatedly proven the football adage concerning defense winning championships; more than the numerous years, the Huskies’ defenses have surpassed the tasks they set out to achieve.
It looks that no matter what challenges Washington is faced with, they will usually have a bright future that outshines the sometimes dreary weather that the Pacific Northwest is acknowledged for. And because they are going to most likely continue to recruit many superb players, Washington appears to become headed down the proper path which will take them to university football victory. Although they’ll most likely never receive the acclaim enjoyed by SEC teams, University of Washington Huskies will continually retain their eye for the prize. They may be content to let other team conferences bask in the warmth of media compliments whilst they continue to achieve what they do the best–winning games and taking championships.
