In general, how do you know your hand size?
I’ve noticed that people on this forum sometimes recommend handguns based on your hand size. Certain guns are good for people with “big mits” while others are designed for people with smaller hands. In general, where would you draw the line between, small hands, average hands, and large hands?
From the tips of my finger to my wrist, my hand is 7 3/4″ long. Is that average or large?
Sounds like it is hard to actually define what size hand people have. You can have very wide hands and shorter fingers, long thin fingers and hands, mitts the size of NBA centers or 5 foot woman. Like shoe sizes, I have size 11 shoes for length but EEE at least for width ( I might as well wear the box the shoes come in). Hands are the same way, and Okie……
Best thing to do is go to a sporting goods store and try on batting or golf gloves. Many places have a hand chart you just put your hand against for comparative measurement.
Now, does that help with pistol reach–not really. Many pistols just feel right or wrong when you handle them. Again, the variety of hand shape and size makes fitting a pistol important. Many new models come with interchangeable grip inserts to aid in fit.
