Stone Age Recipes Cavemen Would Envy!

 Paleolithic period is during the Stone Ages. Caveman roamed in small groups. They were hunters and gatherers. Cavemen were constantly looking for food and shelter. The caveman’s diet: wild animals, fresh fish, poultry, fresh fruit and vegetables, raw bird eggs, nuts and seeds. While trying to capture wild animals for food it was kill or be killed. Survival was never secure. The only technology was the stone. Stone was the tool makers. Stones can chip, cuts and carve. Materials used were wood, stone, shells, animal antlers and bones. Wooden sharpened spears made by stone were used for hunting and protection. Wild animals once killed could be dismembers with carved and sharpened tools made of stone.

Caveman only ate raw foods and potatoes, beans, peas and grain were not included in their diet. These foods contain toxin raw. Cooking these foods kills the toxins. Fire has not been discovered during the Stone Age. The Paleolithic Period or Old-Stone Ages ended approximately 10,000 years ago. Fire was not discovered until approximately 8,500 year ago during the Neolithic Period. Caveman did not drink animal’s milk because animals had not been domesticated.

Scientist have discovered the Paleolithic Diet’s or Paleo Diet’s health benefits. The Paleo diet is an excellent nutritious diet for those with food intolerances. The diet is wheat free, dairy free and soy free. A low fat and low carbohydrate diet plan for weight loss and weight maintenance.

- Low fat meats, fish and poultry included in Paleo Diet.

 - Fish is a good source of Omega-3 and Omega-6 and herring, tuna, sardines and salmon also containing unsaturated fats which reduces the risk of certain diseases.

- Fresh fruits and vegetables provides roughage and fibers important in keeping the digestive system regular.

- Leafy green vegetables, broccoli and peppers are full of beta-carotene.

- Vegetables are fat free and low in calories. The nutrients in vegetables boost energy levels within the muscle cells. Consuming high levels of vegetables is a healthy way to lose weight and increase energy levels.

 

- Vegetable fats are unsaturated. Unsaturated fats are plant-based or vegetable oils. Unsaturated fats become liquefied at room temperature. Eating a diet high in saturated fats increases blood cholesterol levels. Unsaturated fats contribute to reduction in cholesterol blood levels.

- Cholesterol and triglyceride (fats in the blood) level drop with high consumption of fruits and vegetables

- Strawberries, citrus fruits and other fruits are rich in vitamin A, C and E anti-oxidants that protects the body against free-radicals and oxidants.

- The pigment in fruits like blueberries, raspberries and cranberries contain have powerful antioxidants has guards against free radicals.

What is old is new and what is new is old. The Paleo Diet is back to Mother Nature. The foods eaten in man’s original evolution is still the best diet for man. The modern Paleo Recipes are not tasteless and bland. Try this delicious Paleo Fish Recipe:

 White Fish with Macadamia Salsa

Cavemen living near oceans and waterways had high consumption of fish. They would catch fish with their wooden spears made with stones.

Paleo Recipe – Stone Age Recipe
Ingredients

-2 white fish fillets
-¼ cup macadamias, halved
-½ cup chopped tomatoes
-1 avocado, peeled, seeded and diced
-3tbs coriander, chopped
-3tbs parsley, chopped
-Olive oil

Instructions
-Pre-heat grill to medium heat.
-Place fish on grill and cook for 3-4minutes or until cooked.
-To make the salsa, place macadamias, tomatoes, avocado, coriander and parsley
in a mixing bowl, combine well. Add olive oil to coat. Place fish and salsa on a plate to serve.
