Would someone who struggles with the daily grinds of life be a preferred candidate for the masses?
All of the candidates for President live priviledged lives. They all attempt to relate to the struggles of everyday Americans. Can the average Jo and Jane ever be properly represented by these elite individuals? Can such people ever relate to the problems and concerns of the middle class and poor? Maybe you have heard the term “retail” politics….that is basically a term used by the elites when a candidate “roughs it” and “blesses” the average voters with their presents. It is often used in elite circles of big money donors in a derrogatory manner. We often here candidates speaking to the “retail” market in language and policy proposals we all agree with, just to see them turn around and pass legislation counter to what they were sent to do. It all goes back to the elite mentality that “they” know what is best for us. In the “retail” politics, are we truely being sold a grocery bag of condescention? Thank you for your answers.
Yes, but citizens too busy with their heads down trying to pay the bills. Neocons love it that way because they can steal when no one is looking. Capitalists has deliberately created a society that they know will collapse while they get rich. Complain!
