Buffer Bag
Does boxing/sparring increase strength?

I’ll try to make this short. My friend and I both want to become stronger, better toned, and ‘buffer’. He wants to incorporate sparring with each other into our routine, along with vigorous punching of punching bags. He says it will make us stronger, along with other benefits. For whatever reason, I doubt him, even if he is a 2nd degree black belt.

Will he and I sparring with eachother vigorously really up our strength and size? Thanks.

Oh, and assuming we eat, and sleep and do all that other stuff that’s important.

Yes– I’m a huge fan of boxing, sparring and hip hop dancing. Despite the fact that engaging in any of those three activities is 100% aerobic, I do notice a significant difference in regards to my strength and endurance. Oh yea, and let me tell you, I get some KILLER toned abs, back, biceps, forearms and deltoids whenever I do any of these aerobic exercises (1hr a day).

The thing is, I LOVE weight training at the gym, but I get bored with it after a while…and sometimes I leave the weights and go to these aerobic exercises for several months. Everytime I go back to my weight training, I’m always noticing large increases in how much weight i can curl, deadlift, etc. Granted, I think you def. can increase ur strength and endurance faster while weight training, but these aerobic exercises are a good way to work your muscles differently and I personally think it’s easier to exert myself to my full potential with these exercises.
