Appropriate Shoe Colour Choices when Wearing a Navy Suit

A navy suit is a popular colour choice for business garments because the colour is so neutral. Various types of shirts and ties may be worn with a navy suit. This provides for many different types of looks as well as increases the amount of ensemble options a person has.
One myth about the colour choice of shoes to wear with a navy suit has been around for quite some time. No one quite knows where the myth started, but the general idea is that only brown shoes can be worn with a navy suit. This myth spread and quickly and erroneously became fact in the world of acceptable business attire.
Contrary to the current myth, black shoes are the most acceptable colour shoes to wear with a navy suit. Black shoes work the best with a navy suit because they provide a more professional business look to the ensemble. When wearing black shoes, the belt should match accordingly and thus be black as well.
Brown shoes have been frequently worn with a navy suit and the look is acceptable. This colour has been the colour frequently chosen to be worn with a navy suit mostly because of the myth to stay away from black shoes. Brown shoes are acceptable but, provide a different look to the garment. Brown shoes are much more casual than black. Therefore, are not considered by some to be as professional.
The other problem business dressers face with brown shoes is the shade of brown. Darker brown shoes are acceptable with a navy suit. However, lighter brown or tan shoes are a huge fashion mistake. This colour brown should never be worn with a navy suit because a person’s shoes should be as dark as the suit.
This fashion advice is the reason why black shoes are acceptable. Black shoes are darker than a navy suit and therefore wear well together.
Fashion myths have existed for many years regarding the proper shoe colour to wear with a navy suit. Regardless of what myth a person may have heard, black shoes are completely acceptable with a navy suit and in fact provides a very business executive look.
