A friend of mine is applying for a government affirmative action job. Is she a person of colour if she’s pink?
She spent a little too much time out in the sun over the weekend. I advised her to go ahead and say that she’s a “person of colour”. Is that unethical? Who knows, she may have a little African-American or Mexican ancestry in her.
Race and Color are self identifiable and not challengable by your employer. To challenge someone who claims African American or White is in itself racial discrimination and harassment.
